Many Tables Set From a Party Spent

Many tables set from a party spent.
Beer colored stains on the couch and carpet.
Life turned askew if only for one night,
Her parents would probably die of fright.

It is too late, the decision was made,
For the keg, now empty, already paid,
Hallways are littered with empty beer cans;
Bottles of liquor upon the night stand.

Was it sweet or sour, her hour of shame?
But she knew that she was only to blame.
Miller and Jack are a dangerous mix;
The bulge in her bed, she’s now in a fix.

She’s not sure of what tomorrow may bring,
A rich man, nice house, among other dreams.
Or perchance it ends with another fate,
A bun in the oven, welfare check late.

The night is through and the cheer is no more,
Urine has dried upon the bathroom floor.
She looks in the mirror with tears of lament,
Many tables set from a party spent.
