New Quarter; New Life; Good Times?
Well, the first week of school is finally over with and I must say that I rather think I will enjoy this quarter greatly. I have an awesome line-up of classes this quarter except for my senior thesis class. My schedule is as follows;
MWF:
History 503 (American Revolution) at 12pm…
This is taught by the famous John Alexander (he thinks he is famous), and it is in depths look into the duel revolution that took place in America between 1700’s – 1810’s…
Geology 103 (Intro Geology) at 1pm…
I have never taken geology before and was very wary because of all the work I thought may be involved. The work for this class consists of mostly busy work related to a survey class, but is centered around two books by Richard Fortey (these are called Earth and Life). They are very well written and are extremely interesting. It will be an easy, interesting A earned if I get all the busy work finished, but with my senior thesis to do too—I am a little reserved on the “A” part. We shall see. After the first day of class I became very excited over the whole geology idea, and am sorely disappointed because I think I may have wasted about 5 years in the wrong field of study. *sigh* Oh well…
Tues. and Thurs:
History 472 (Early Roman) at 11am…
This is a look at early roman civilization between 144-33 B.C.E. Very interesting this quarter, due to the fact that it is not a deep look at the sources, but a study of the actual events that occurred. And to top it off it is taught by an interesting professor who likes to make references to old movies that depict this era (it is funny how many kids don’t have a clue of what he is talking about)...
Geology 113 (Geology Field Lab) at 1pm
Geology, again! Yes, but even better because it mostly takes us all outdoors. Every Thursday we go on field trips to local parks to research the surrounding creek beds for rocks, but I basically feel like it is just like my childhood where I used to go play down in the creek...
Thursday only:
History 463 (Senior Thesis) at 3:30pm
Wow, I am almost there. Too bad I have to f-ing do a crap load of research for this project. Mostly we don’t even meet for this class except for the last two weeks…
History 426 (U.S. Women’s) at 6:30pm [DROPPED CLASS... HA!]
Yikes! This was the only 400 level class left to take in this quarter, so, I had to sign up. Boring and a refresher is the adjectives I will use to discuss this one and will be the point of discussion at a later date I am sure…
Oy! Wish me luck everybody…
