How Do You Lose a 9-3, 2 Out Advantage Game in the Last Inning?
So, I took my little brother Danny to the ballgame yesterday for his birthday. That’s right; we piled up in my car and headed down toward Great American Ballpark to see our favorite team, the Reds. For his birthday I bought really good seats right next to the dugout, and to say we were just excited would be putting it mildly. It was a wonderful game, though quite chilly (but we stood the chill as long as our Red-legs were winning), until the top of the ninth inning where the Reds were up 9 runs to 3. They had one out remaining, and I turned to Daniel and said, “Okay buck-o, its already an hour past your bedtime… let’s call it a day. We can watch the last out from up the stairs…” He reluctantly agreed and we headed up the stairs.
*SMACK!*
“OH GOD—DAMN—IT!”
*SMACK!*
“OH GOD—DAMN—IT!”
*SMACK!*
“OH GOD—DAMN—IT!”
What the hell Graves? There at the top of the stairs, Danny and I got to see the whole team just self-destruct in front of us. Sadly to say folks, Daniel could not convince me to stay and watch the bottom of the inning. I knew the story all too well. The Reds may get several people on base, but in the end, they’ll leave ‘em stranded (and they did just that). No sir, I am not going to watch that happen. How do you lose a 9-3, 2 out advantage game in the last inning? GOD [expletive deleted]! *huge sigh*
So that is that, as they say. My Reds let Danny and I down big time. And Danny Graves was on the radio the next morning making a big stink about how the fans really shouldn’t boo their home town team when thing like that happen. What?!?! They deserved to get boo-ed. I’m sorry I hurt your feelings Danny, but YOU GUYS JUST THREW 60 BUCKS OF MY HARD EARNED *snicker* FUCK YOU! Mad at the fans for booing that is ridiculous. Jerk.
Well, that was yesterday. Today, the Reds lost again to the Cardinals (what-a-surprise), probably because the offense had been shy to come out after last night’s sad disappointment. But the difference today was that I was in the comfort of Goob’s house. Goob and I, this afternoon, went down to the creek to find stuff. He was of course looking for biological stuff (snakes, turtles, salamanders, ect.), whereas I was searching for their 400 million year old ancestors. Good times down by the creek. Needless to say, Chris found more stuff than I did. We found a crap load of baby Water and Queen Snakes, some salamanders, and a Painted Turtle. It was kind of amusing because these animals were too cold to scramble, slither, and scurry away (due to the cold weather we have been having lately). After our adventure (it always is an adventure in the creek), we headed off to Bob Evans, where we both had a delicious meal. It has been a long time since I went to a) a Bob Evans, and b) a restaurant of any kind. So, this was a nice change in gastronomic delight, though food is usually just food to me. Well, I am outta here… Peace out —SIB—
